Mobile Studies Summer School

The Mobile Studies Summer School (MSSS), the first of its kind in the world, invites you to participate in its second session on 23-27 August 2021. The Summer School is free, participation is online (via MS Teams), and open to registered participants globally. MSSS is one of the long-term projects of the Institute for Mobile Studies (hosted by the School of International Communications in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China). MSSS aims to promote globally mobile studies as an emerging field of interdisciplinary and applied research in the Social Science. As the most popular and powerful medium in the world, mobile devices have been reshaping not only what we do but also who we are. It is now embedded in a range of activities, including mobile government and parenting. The annual Mobile Studies Summer School (MSSS) equips participants with the knowledge and skills related to mobile media and communication studies. The one-week intensive summer school covers 10 selected topics with one topic in the morning and one topic in the afternoon every working day from Monday through Friday (23-27 August). Each topic will be introduced briefly for 30-45 minutes by the instructor and will be followed by a Q&A session. The participants are required to submit a research report (around 2500 words) on a specific topic related to a defined area of mobile studies. The research report must be submitted on 3 September 2021, within one week after completing the course. On completing this programme, participants will have increased their knowledge of selected aspects of mobile media and enhanced their skills in selected areas of mobile communication. This will be recognized by a certificate of completion. Please register for the 2021 Mobile Studies Summer School via ims@nottingham.edu.cn
